Tim Modise has worked in the broadcast media for over thirty years. He has worked for various radio & TV stations of the SABC, M-Net, Primedia, BBC & PowerFM across different formats from music, current affairs & talk shows. He was inducted in the Radio Hall of Fame in 2011.
Although grounded in the music formatted stations for 5 years of his early broadcasting career, the veteran journalist transitioned to the talk format when he introduced public education talk in 1988. He later introduced politically oriented talk, participating extensively in the coverage of the transition from ‘apartheid’ to the new ‘constitutional democracy’, reporting and commenting on the unbanning of the ANC and other liberation movements, the release of political prisoners, the uprisings, and subsequent negotiations that ushered in the South Africa of today. He provided voter education on his programmes, hosted the debates leading to the elections of 1994 which he also covered on both radio and TV. His highlight was being a panelist on the Mandela/De Klerk debate which was broadcast to a global audience of 800 million. He has interviewed all South African Presidents since 1990.
Tim Modise has also worked as a political analyst for AMB Securities & HSBC, a columnist for City Press newspaper and was appointed the founding chairman of Proudly South African by President Thabo Mbeki. He briefly worked as Chief Communications Officer of 2010 World Cup and later became CEO of Sizwe IT, a technology company.
He continues to cover South African public affairs and through his company FGPMedia, produces his own TV shows as well as his radio show on @touchhdonline. He has started a digital publication called Modise.net to promote entrepreneurship and the South African economy. He is involved in education & health sectors in his home community of Garankuwa as patron of the Tim Modise Primary School, member of Sefako Makgatho University & board member of George Mukhari Hospital. He has received numerous awards for community development, communication, broadcasting, reconciliation from IJR & Archbishop Tutu as well as for human rights from the Jaime Brunet Foundation, University of Navarro in Spain. He is a public speaker who has also given keynote speeches at graduation ceremonies of universities of Cape Town, Tshwane, UNISA & Wits. He has moderated and facilitated a variety of conferences & MC’d major events including Cape Town Jazz, Mandela 85 Birthday Ubuntu Awards & the Loerie Awards with Fran Drescher & Louis Gossett Jr. He obtained Advanced Management Diploma (AMP) from Henley Business School, Marketing Certificate UNISA, Financial Management Diploma from Damelin. Modise lives with his children in Kyalami, Johannesburg and enjoys music and reading biographies, world current affairs and developments.
Currently Tim Modise hosts his own current affairs shows on eNCA called ‘The Modise Network ‘ and another on SowetoTV called ‘ Tonight with Tim Modise’. He also promotes entrepreneurship with research company Plus94 Research, collaborating on their support platform called BizNexus.
Tim Modise has also founded a mobile app (Nile Media App) that seeks to connect people anywhere in the world with content from and of South Africa and Africa, through the most affordable and ground-breaking way possible. This was done with the support of his technology partners.

Nomshado (Shado) Twala
Shado is a well established media and public relations practitioner who has experience of over 25 years in the various disciplines. She brings a wealth of skilled knowledge and a wide network in the media sector.
With over a decade of marketing experience under her belt, Shado is currently managing her own entertainment business, Black Olive Entertainment. It is through this company that a platform for musical dialogue was established – The Sound Bites Series.
In the late 1980’s Shado became a household name as a presenter on radio and television – Radio Bop, Radio Metro, 702, P4 and Cape Talk. During this time, Shado also wrote a few articles for the Sunday Times, Two Tone Magazine (an insert in the Vrye Weekblad), Tribute Magazine and the Old Mutual Jazz Heritage Magazine. Shado then joined the Provincial Government of the Western Cape as the Premier’s Media Liaison and Public Relations Officer until July 2008. During this period, Shado had extensive experience with both South African and international media practitioners during the Premier’s international visits.
Over the years Shado’s voice has featured in various commercials and documentaries such as African Voices, Braam Fischer, Dennis Goldberg, Lillie’s Leaf Farm, Love featuring Mr & Mrs Walter Sisulu. She has also been invited to various corporate events as MC/ Programme Director. She participated as Chair of the Panel of Experts for the Gugulethu Street Naming process.

Sandile Donald Muziwenkosi Zungu (“Zungu”) was born at Umlazi Township, Durban on the 10th of February 1967. He completed Matric at Vukuzakhe High School in 1983, and did post-matric at Hilton College the following year.
In 1983, Zungu was honoured as one of the top 10 participants in the erstwhile KwaZulu regional finals of the Old Mutual National Science Olympiad and in 1984 he came 81st in the national category of the Old Mutual National Science Olympiad.
Zungu completed a BSc (Mechanical Engineering) degree at the University of Cape Town (UCT) in 1988 as well as a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) at the UCT Graduate School of Business in 1995. In 2000 he completed a Program for Global Leadership certificate at the Harvard Business School in Boston, USA.
Zungu has 6 years plant maintenance and projects management experience within engineering and production environments, having worked for Richards Bay Minerals (RBM), Engen Refinery, National Sorghum Breweries (NSB) and South African Breweries (SAB) during the period 1989 to 1994.
In 1998 he led SARHWU Investment Holdings to becoming BusinessMap Dealmaker of The Year. In 2000 he represented South Africa at the 6th finals of the World Young Business Achievers, which were held in Florida, USA and won the much-coveted Outstanding Business Strategy award. Zungu featured in the Financial Mail’s Little Black Book profiling South Africa’s 300 most influential blacks and graduated recently as a member of the World Economic Forum in his capacity as Young Global Leader. He serves on the BBBEE Presidential Advisory Council and is President of the Black Business Council. Zungu is also Chairman of the UCT Graduate School of Business advisory board.
Zungu was an associate within the corporate finance division of African Merchant Bank (AMB) prior to establishing Sarhwu Investment Holdings in 1997, a company that he led for three-and-half years, growing it from a zero asset base to more than R400 million in the net value of its assets. In August 2000 he assumed his duties at the then R6 billion New Africa Investments Limited (NAIL) as executive director responsible for strategy and empowerment. He became intimately involved in developing and implementing plans by NAIL to distribute its interest in Metropolitan Life Limited (METLIFE). He left the employ of NAIL at the end of 2001 after its complete transformation to a R1 billion media company.
Zungu was an independent non-executive chairman of Denel, which is South Africa’s state-owned arms manufacturer.
He currently serves as a non-executive director of Grindrod Limited and non-executive director of Novus Holdings, both listed on the JSE Securities Exchange. He is executive chairman of Zungu Investments Company (Proprietary) Limited (Zico), which is the holding company of his business interests.
Sikonathi Mantshantsha is the deputy editor of the Financial Mail, which he joined in 2012. He also writes for Business Day.
A qualified stockbroker and a recent graduate of the Management Advancement Programme at Wits Business School, Sikonathi started his career at Brait Securities as a messenger, then traded bonds and equities, before taking a position at UBS Investment Bank as a trade support analyst.
In February 2004 he became the chief editorial researcher at Media24 for Who’s Who of Southern Africa followed by a five-year stint at Finweek and Fin24.com as a financial journalist.

Tshifhiwa is also best described as a social entrepreneur who founded ZOTE Investments and Projects where he partnered with various organisations in USA, New Zealand, UK, to bring over 400 international volunteers to contribute in youth development in Limpopo Province.

Jessica Shelver is an international political studies and communications professional with almost a decade’s worth of experience in political strategy, media studies, research and communications.
Jessica spent 8 years working in the UK, for a Non-Government Organisation Research Centre and Think Tank and served as the Parliamentary Liaison for the United Nations Association – Westminster Young Professionals.
Jessica moved back to South Africa in 2013 and has served as a Strategic Communications Advisor and Official Spokesperson to the Western Cape MEC for Education.
In 2012, Jessica won the South African Chamber of Commerce Rising Star of the Year Award. Kone is a Chartered Accountant (SA) with extensive experience in the financial services sector.
Kone completed her articles at the audit firm Moores Rowland in 2001 before joining Standard Bank as Credit Manager. She gained exposure to equity management through stints at J.P. Morgan and Safika Holdings before joining Nedbank in 2007, where she spent seven years as a Senior Portfolio Manager: Group Credit Risk Monitoring and then Divisional Executive: Corporate Social Investment.
Through her career, Kone has developed a strong and holistic understanding of the risk and governance issues impacting organisations. She is committed to good governance and to providing Land Bank’s shareholders and stakeholder with the assurance that the Group is managed with due consideration to risk and compliance.
Dr Dominik Heil’s research interests lie in organisational culture and development and analysing reputation risk. He is a well published academic in a number of academic journals in the US, Europe and South Africa. He is pioneering a mixed methodology to articulate organisational culture as a driver of productivity and creativity in organisations and a quantitative method to detect and evaluate corporate and country reputation risks.
He has worked in Europe, the US, Asia and Africa. He has extensive consulting experience in the areas of strategy, reputation and culture management and conflict resolution. He has worked with many of South Africa’s largest corporations and a number of multinationals.
Dominik has recently founded the research and consulting firm Works Access Ltd in Oxford/UK. He is the founder of Reputation Institute South Africa, a programme director and senior tutor at Cranfield School of Management and a sessional lecturer in strategy and leadership at the Wits Business School in Johannesburg.

Madam Chaka holds a Master of International Business and a Bachelor of Business and Commerce from Monash University, Australia. She studied African Studies through the Thabo Mbeki African Leadership Academy to understand the needs of the Ccntinent. She studied Africa and International Trade, African Thought Leadership and Gendered Policy Planinng within the African context.
Following her studies, she was selected as inaugural chair of the Former President Thabo Mbeki’s Alumni Forum. Madam Chaka is currently leading the private sector sub-committee to mobilise funds to build the Thabo Mbeki Presidential Library. She formed part of the advisory team to Former President Mbeki to Nigeria to launch the Afro Champions initiative alongside the world’s richest black man Aliko Dangote, Vice President of Nigeria, Yemi Osinbajo and Former President of Nigeria Olusegun Obasanjo.
Madam Chaka has been appointed as the Africa Lead Football for Peace. She recently led a successful delegation to garner the support of H.E President George Weah of Liberia. She was selected as a finalist for the 2017 McKinsey Next Women Generation Award.
She founded a company called Afro Visionary Legacy, a boutique capital raising, strategic advisory and public speaking firm with a focus on Africa and its diaspora. Policy and Planning – Executive Mayor at City of Johannesburg
Mbali Motsoeneng works as a Manager in Policy and Planning in the Private Office of the Executive Mayor at City of Johannesburg. Her portfolio includes service delivery, governance, public health and safety projects. Born in Johannesburg, her exposure to inequalities in South Africa led her to politics where she drives efficiencies in service delivery in local government.
She obtained a Master of Management from Wits School of Governance, specialising in Public Development Management to understand the role of government in creating a conducive environment for the social and economic inclusion of immigrants in Johannesburg. Her passion for public service and advocacy led her to being elected as a Federal Deputy Chairperson on the national youth leadership of the official opposition party in South Africa. In this position she works on driving solutions for youth unemployment in South Africa, by prioritising youth-led decisions in policy conversations about economic participation and labour market demands.
As a Global Shaper she is engaged in community development projects that focus on helping underprivileged communities in gaining access to internet, reducing the digital divide, and lobbying 4th Industrial Revolution readiness.

Jeremy Sampson graduated from Canterbury College of Art, England, now the University for the Creative Arts (UCA), in visual communication. There he studied under Graham Clarke, Stanley Hickson, Roy Chambers and Jim Hodgeson.
A career working between London and Johannesburg in marketing, advertising, graphic design, public relations, reputation management and branding. He founded and was the Executive Chairman of the Africa operations of the international branding group, Interbrand until he stepped down in October 2014. Winning numerous awards along the way in the UK, USA and South Africa and in 2010 being awarded the prestigious Financial Mail AdFocus Lifetime Achievement Award. During that period the company either won or was shortlisted more times than any other in its field in the Financial Mail AdFocus and Finweek AdReview awards.

Yanina boasts an extensive career of over 15 yrs in communications in Russian politics and energy industries and also as a scientist in the fields of philosophy and psychology. As a fully qualified psychologist and philosopher, she initially started her career in HR and corporate psychology.
In 2009, with the rapid growth of the internet and the vast impact of digital reality which started changing all industries and turned communications into a key driver of human, social and business relationship development in general, Yanina initiated the World Communication Forum in Davos – as a global platform for sharing expertise aimed at stronger influence of the professional communicators’ community on the global development of the world. I have just (April 2018) joined the Tsogo Sun sales team (69 people) as the Head of Sales (aka National Sales Manager). My main responsibility is to lead the team to achieve the revenue targets set for the business, drive the relationship building with both internal and external clients as well as to identify new opportunities for revenue growth for hotels.
In my previous position, I was an Executive Marketing Manager for hotels – a position I held from 2009 – 2018. My main responsibility, through marketing communications, was to position Tsogo Sun hotels, grow revenue and add value to the business by managing all the promotions, advertising, marketing strategies, etc.
From 2008 – 2009 I worked at Sandton Convention Centre as a General Manager: Sales & Marketing. My Main responsibilities were to generate revenue for the SCC, manage a team of 10 people (Sales & Marketing) and manage all marketing activities in a bid to position SCC as a premium African venue for Conferences and Events locally & internationally.
From 2005 to 2006 I worked at the Gauteng Enterprise Propeller as the General Manager: Marketing and Communications. I then moved on to Ogilvy Johannesburg as a Group Account Directorworking on the South African Tourism account. From 2001 to August 2005, I worked for the Gauteng Tourism Authority as a Senior Marketing Manager. My key responsibility was to provide strategic leadership to and management of the Tourism Marketing Integration Business Unit. My work entailed Strategic Planning; Research; Exhibitions; Support to MICE market; Advertising and Promotions; Tourism Awareness; SMME Development; tourism information services; publications; financial management and Management of the business unit. I had 25 people in my unit and 5 of them reporting directly to me. I also acted as CEO on a number of occasions where the CEO was out of the country or on leave.
Terry Tselane has established himself as an authority on elections and electoral processes. He has served as a Commissioner for the Electoral Commission of South Africa for almost 14 years. In 2011 he was appointed the Vice-Chairperson of the Electoral Commission of South Africa for a seven (7) year term. He has also acted as the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission for over a year. Terry has delivered four (4) major National and Provincial elections as well as four (4) local government elections and his record remains unmatched by any Commissioner in terms of the number of elections he delivered in the history of South Africa.
Terry Tselane joined the IEC in 1998 and established the IEC in Gauteng Province and recorded the highest number of registered voters in the country. He further went on to help establish the Association of World Election Management Bodies (A-WEB) as well as the Commonwealth Electoral Network (CEN). He currently serves in the Executive Board of A-WEB and has also served in the Executive Committee of Commonwealth Electoral Network. Terry further played an instrumental role in the re-establishment of the Association of Africa Electoral Management Bodies (AAEEA). He also served as the President of the Electoral Commission Forum (ECF) of SADC countries. He has been described by Prof Anil Seal, a well-respected head of the Cambridge Malaysian Education and Development Trust, as “the founding father” of the Cambridge Association of Mutual Peer Support. Terry has been part and has led many election observations mission. His recent mission was in Gambia where he led the African Union Observer Mission.
Terry was the Chief Executive Officer of Gauteng Tourism from 2002 to 2006. While at the Gauteng tourism authority he transformed Gauteng into a world-class tourism destination, surpassing all destinations in South Africa in terms of tourism arrivals. He was appointed the Chief Executive Officer of the Gauteng Film Commission in 2006, which he then established as one of the most well respected film commissions in the world.
Terry’s leadership skills were recognised during the struggle years as a student activist. He served in various organisations such as President of the Black Students Society at the University of the Witwatersrand, Vice-President of the Executive Committee of the Convocation, and later as a member of the Council of the University of the Witwatersrand.
Terry is a true ambassador of Electoral Democracy and has represented South Africa in many local and international platforms. He has further promoted South Africa as both a tourism and film destination and also reinforced South Africa’s position as a pre-imminent leader of electoral democracy in the world. Sheraan Amod is a South African entrepreneur with significant experience in technology startups and venture capital. Metji Makgoba is a 28-year-old communication lecturer and researcher at the University of Limpopo, who studies towards a Ph.D. in Corporate Social Responsibility at Cardiff University as a Commonwealth Scholar. He also serves as a guest editor for JOMEC Open Access journal and a seminar leader at Cardiff University.
As an Erasmus Mundus scholar at Newcastle University in 2013/2014, he completed his master’s degree in media and public relations with distinction after he left his position as an assistant communication officer at the University of Limpopo. His thesis, a first class, is titled, “The sexualisation of politics: a critical discourse analysis of Zapiro’s political cartoons of president Jacob Zuma”.

Neeshan Ishwarlal was born 9 January 1962, and resides in the Mondeor area of Johannesburg. He graduated from the University of the Witwatersrand in 1984 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Education, and in 1989 with a Post graduate Bachelor of Education degree. He also completed a MSC degree in public policy and management through correspondence with the University of London in 2008. Neeshan is currently the Executive Director at the Ahmed Kathrada Foundation for the past six years. In 2009, Neeshan acted as the Advisor to the MEC of Education and from 1999 to 2004 as the Deputy Director of the General Department of Local Government in Gauteng and of the General Office of Premier. Neeshan was well entrenched in his work with the ANC from 1990 to 1999, holding the following positions: Provincial Elections Coordinator, Local Government Councillor and the ANC organiser for the Lenasia Branch. Prior to this, Neeshan was a teacher at Topaz secondary school in Lenasia for three years.
Neeshan has served on the following organisations: Lenasia Civic Association, Progressive Teachers League, Homeless Support Committee, Lenasia Community Police Forum, South Western Chamber of Commerce and the Matthew Goniwe School of Leadership and Governance. He is currently on the board of the Gauteng Growth and Development Agency, East Wave Community Radio, and Sanca – Nishtara.
In the 1980s, Neeshan was an activist for the Transvaal Indian Congress, United Democratic Front, Lenasia Youth League, ANC Underground and MK and is now an executive member of the Civic Association of Johannesburg.
His interests include hiking, travelling and reading and he has received the following awards: American Field Service student exchange programme 1979/80 and Indicator (Newspaper) Human Rights Award – 1992.
